Newsela is a web site that provides students and teachers with a large collection current event articles. These articles can be adjusted to meet the reading and comprehension levels of your students. This can be very helpful in classes with students of different reading levels. Newsela also has a Common Core-aligned quizzes that are aligned to the readings. There are features that allow the teacher to store all assignments and assessments in a class or student binder. The binders allow for better tracking of progression of students. There is a free version and a subscription version(which is expensive). The Paid version has many more features and unlimited storage of binders and data. Newsela gets its articles from over forty different media sources including The Chicago Tribune and The New York Times.
